In the Drug Recovery trade many people were once addicted and they heal themselves by helping others. One suspects that many of the healing areas are similarly populated.

Good point, Brisbane...
Freud's premise is theory. It's my theory that practitioners in the psych field get into it because they want to know what makes them tic, and whether or not their experience is "normal." They're trying to gain insights and heal themselves. I imagine that sometimes this actually works.
