- Go to Knowing Where The Racial Boundaries Are
It is indeed a shame, that terrible need of protection from the slings and
arrows of the ignorant. Would that we could go armorless...

saul relative,
Racial boundaries are definitely sensitive waters to tread, no matter how educated and evolved we hope we are. Unfortunately, all armour just isn't made the same. Too bad, the need for armour. Thanks for sharing your post. :)

Ramble on, girl. The reason racial epithets and slurs have little or no
impact upon white people is because whites are taught by society, by history, and by culture that they are the dominant race. Dominance has its advantages, such as being psychologically armored against insults regarding race.

I never understood what "cracker" (or "honkie") even meant, anyway?
It doesn't seem like they pack the same emotional impact (as other racial epithets), either.
My brother is a fairly prominent high school basketball player here, so when his team steps out of the Catholic League to play a few of the inner-city ones (on a neutral court), he hears all sorts of garbage ... and none of it seems to really bother him in the least.
At one point, someone even called him a "rich whiteboy euro-trash motherfucker" (while he was shooting free throws). It was hilarious. In fact, I started calling him that for a while, too.
Sorry for the super-long comment, btw! I was, like, all rambling.
"There's no crying in basketball!"
