SlyCy, you are right; however, a red flag went up for me when
Carter came out supporting this deal!  You might like to readGo to BUSH ADMIN. TRUST US, WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING!

Perhaps Carter was more correct than I thought when he
gave his agreement to the Arabs controlling the port.  But how can dubya expect us to take his word on all the double dealing he has done since he has taken office.  He has done much to poison our citizens against Arabs, and then expects us to allow them to take over control of our largest ports.  Why would anybody believe anything he has to say about any topic?

Glennb, the bottom line is we live in a very self-centered world,
and includes many of our leaders, no matter they say in their public addresses!

MountainClimber56,
My point is that comparing the Mayor of New York's response during September 11, 2001, to the calamity of New Orleans was a bit of grandstanding by Norm Coleman! To me, it showed a complete lack of understanding the total breakdown of our federal government! In both instances it was criminally negligent at the top!

Glennb, it seems that not many people were on dry ground
especially those in position of leadership!

MountainClimber56,

Whoa! Pessimism is not in my lexicon! Stating "real" facts does not make a person with pessimistic design about the future! It simply means that I will not embrace "history" as it is being written by the people of greed! Write a happy story to take my mind of the misery! Not I, there are enough people doing that!

During the "Katrina" hearing! Some lame congressman or senator (Norm Coleman) suggesting that the mayor of New Orleans (Narin) should have been on high ground tellling America how dry he was! These are the people being elected to positions in our government! Does not say much about us!

Glennb, sometimes wisdom though it come through complaint is warranted!

Jack Flash,
There are people who have no life outside their ability to complain. To feel discriminated against is common place in America but, the feeling of powerless is far more harmful! That someone or something has this magical control over you is self-defeating! Take off the pity boots!

Glennb, I am not quite as pessimistic as you seem to be;
but sadly, I am getting there!

MountainClimber56,

I like your "About This Blog"! The Port Deal will happen! The odds are something like 6.9 billion to none! George Bush does not descriminate! We common "folk", Americans are caught up in the mundane pettiness of Race, Religion, Gender, Sexual Preference, in our pathetic lives! This deal allows Arabs to "launder" all that wealth back to their henchmen in the West!

They both gain from our misery! Take a look at the people who will be handling that transaction! How much is a "Port Deal" worth anyway??

If only I knew how this link thing worked, I could tie you into the people who have done the research! It's about the "Color of Money"! And Bush Inc. is well connected!

m climber,

I think that when one group of people is lumped together with another, whether because of religious beliefs, or any other criteria besides violent intentions, that we can call that discrimintation.  Those who are proposed operators of our ports, and I use that phrase with reservations, may well be Moslems. but that does not make them terrorists.  The people whom we are attempting to defend in Iraq are Moslem, yet we are attempting to set them up to work against terrorists, who are also Moslem.  I consider that entire matter to be one of confusion, but to say that anyone who is Moslem is the enemy is blatant discrimination.  We aren't handing the ports to Moslem terrorists, we are handing them to Moslems who are not terrorists.

And that particular discrimination is only one of many that I see on a rampant rise in this country.  There are many others, the most common of which is discrimination against Hispanics.  I live in a part of the country where I see that every day.  I see it on Blogit from many parts of the country.  I'm not talking about Moslems, Jews, Blacks, Hispanics, men, women, gays, old, young, poor, middle class, or any particular group.  I am talking about DISCRIMINATION.

Jackflash, I don't think it is discrimination, but just like we will
never forget Pearl Harbor, we will never forget 9/11 -- and if that often clouds our vision, then so be it -- and count it as honoring the three thousand killed, and the thousand of soldiers killed since we started this war on terror!

Kingmi,

At this point in history discrimination is at a higher point in this country than I have seen it in years.  Where do we draw the lines?  Security needs to be maintained, that is for certain.  Yet, with public opinion as rabid and discriminatory as it is right now, I have almost no confidence in it at all.  It is a bare-faced disgrace.

How is this thing with the ports much different from the interment of the Japanese Americans during WWII?  Is that excusable?  The public doesn't think so now, but what about then?  Is the now with the Moslem religion any different from the now of that time with the Japanese?

As far as the public opinion being so much against the ports matter with Arab allies, can you think of anyone who has an informed opinion on the affair?  I hear plenty of talk and angry opinions, but hardly one that comes from a well-informed person.

My concern is not with who runs the ports, whatever that means, it is with the rampant spread of uninformed discrimination that I see happening in our own country.  I find it quite frightening.

Kingmi, we need to evaluate it all -- do we not have
American companies capable of manging our ports -- to be honest with you, I never thought we would allow a foreign country friend or foe to manging our ports!

Mountain, My point exactly. Are we reviewing the entire practice of turnin
g management of our ports over to foreign companies?  or just this one?

Kingmi, right now there is a great difference between
China, and a religion that is bent on bringing us down, destroying Israel and conqueroring the world!

mountain, what are we agreeing with? During the 90's Red China took over
running our West Coast ports.  no problem there!
