This crass order works because
while a person is usually fairly smart, people are very stupid.
To break free from the lemmings, you have to start small first, like NOT making noise when the scoreboard at a hockey game tells you to, and NOT watching Oprah because she apparently knows exactly how everyone should live their lives. After that, you can think about taking on Valentine's Day!

Ignore Mainstream Nonsense Is My Theory.
Holidays that tell people they are to behave a certain way cause WAY too much stress and grief in this society.
