Aha!  You didn't notice the crocodile lurking under the hyper-bowl, did you, Pat_B?   It's name is Fan-tas-y, and it is ready to snap at any time.

hyperbole...
hy-per-bo-lee... is how you say it. But it looks like you'd say hyper-bowl.  I always thought it meant fantastic exaggeration, so obvious as to be humorous. This particular tale of man and dog feels like allegory -- which in this case has nothing to do with alligators or gory stuff. Very enjoyable... :)

Meringue
Thank you Meringue. I think my embellished version makes for a better story, although the same facts are still there.

Taps
Unfortunately, cats tend to get me hospitalized, but one of the fascinating things about cats is that you can have indoor and outdoor cats.  Cats are very wise animals, Taps.

You ar making me blush, kingmi.  My writing is usually described as 'this is not suitable, and please don't send us anymore, OK!'

Personally, I think you are quite fanciful with your hyperboles and I'm thankful that I have a cat who uses a litter box (except when its time to clean it.)

johnmcnab, how about a few non-literary terms? Compassion, empathy,
knowledge, family, love?  And then a few easy lit terms like, clear, logical, concise, rich, coherent?  and that leads me back again to the familiar:  humor, synergy, love...
