Voice of the People.
Dear Corbin.. If the voice of the people has spoken, then it is justice. Let's just hope and pray they will have strong leaders who will be good politician who can solve problems on the table and paper rather than the gunpowder.
regards...Prof.

Good post, Corbin...
There is work to be done and it certainly will separate the "weenies from the bun..." So to speak! Thanks again for another thoughtful post. You do your homework and you know your stuff!

It's a huge opportunity and challenge for Hamas
Either they can try to become a legitimate governing party, or they can continue their history of terrorism and bigtory and face the wrath of the free world. I would be very much surprised if they chose the former.

fymystic....
Hamas has tried to present itself as a two-sided coin......on one side we have them filling the vacuum that the ruling party provided through its corruption....Billions of aid money....yet it didn't make its way down to the people.....they provided some of the basic needs that wasn't being done......we would have to be naive to not understand that they also had a motive......they knew when the time came for elections the people would look on them with great favor.....a politically calculated plan that worked very well.
But the other side is pure evil.....and that is the side they are going to have to exorcise if they thing they'll get any recognition as a valid voice for the Palestinian people.....if they don't realize that...we will have the status quo continue.....

maybe, just maybe, the palestinians voted for Hamas ...
because they were sick of the one-party rule of the corrupt Fatah Party. They were given a choice, not much of a choice, but a choice. They wanted to throw the bums out, which is something almost unheard of in that part of the world.
I don't think they endorse every plank of the hamas platform, unlike some of of the true believers that think every plank of GOP is gospel.

I am in total agreement with the way you have made the analysis of the Hamas victory. Now is the time for real business to start between Israel and the Palestinians. I am particularly glad that, you knew Abbas was not a modrate as some are trying to claim now.
