I too think hiding by posting to a message board encourages cowards. But, in the U.S. we have had far too many situations of parents attacking other parents and coaches, and in some instances killing each other! It's horrific, but unfortunately not uncommon. At my sons little league games I actually saw two mom go at it: hair pulling and kicking. Unbelievable and disgusting.

wow - i played womens rugby in college, and boy did it get catty!
the first season was great, the second was so much fun but the third season came around and, so typical of women, most of the girls banded off in to cliques. mostly it got to the point where they talked about us all behind our backs, but in each others' presence, it was clear that things were awry. I'm sorry to hear of the troublesome transition!

I do think the Internet allows an easier vehicle to an end, but I think the feelings would still be there to some degree, even if not openly expressed. I also think (hope) that once you get out on the pitch and into the pub, hopefully things will settle down.  Keep us (me) posted!!! :)

Definitely. If no one knows who you are,
you can say anything!

Anonymity
is key but I think a herd instinct comes into play amongst the ignorant; so, safety in anonymity and safety in numbers.

oh yes.
I've seen this on poetry boards.  I think it's the anonymity of message boards that make people say things they normally wouldn't to someone's face, and also wreak vengeance on perceived slights.  I like blogit because people are usually respectful of one another.
