Title? Sorry, I don't have time.

Yesterday I turned to reply to someone and found that they were actually talking to someone on the phone. As we were standing in the middle of a muddy field watching the kids play rugby I was tempted use it as the start of a blog about mobile phone behaviour. Then I remembered that I have done that... More on smoking laws. Or is that moron smoking laws?

Continuing from last night... First let me say that do not smoke. I am not against the control of smoking in public places. But I am against excessive legislation, think we have more pressing problems and think this is a badly thought out piece of legislation. Once the new laws on smoking come into... The freedom to catch cancer and die in a roadside ditch

As of last night Parliament voted to ban smoking in all sorts of places, including private clubs. You can, as I understand it, have a vote of members in your club to ban women, but you can't have a vote to allow smoking. However, as a pregnant woman you can still smoke at home. You can still smoke... Sign in to see full entry.

People, trains and me ranting about things I can't change.

We took a trip by train last night. Full details are in my journal, this blog is about the manners of people on trains. This particular service was one we hadn't used before. Leaving before most of the commuters start for home it meanders to Leicester stopping at villages you hardly notice if... Sign in to see full entry.

A Pushy Parent story.

Tomorrow is rugby training. The coaches and the Pushy Parent will be together for the first time since the email was sent. That would be awkward enough, but he has upped the ante by arranging a meeting with the CEO of the club next Tuesday. You get the sense of a man determined to carry on digging... Pushy parents, emails and loss of proportion. Any answers?

Sometimes I sit and wonder why it happens to me. Two weeks into my career as junior rugby coach (already injured once) I am straight into a row about selection. We have too many kids in the squad for them all to play a full game every week. We played twice on Sunday - won the first half each time,... Sign in to see full entry.

Eagle Owl attacks dog. Blogger shows true colours.

There was an interesting piece in the paper earlier on this week about an Eagle Owl that tried to make off with a dachshund but was seen off by the dog's owner. As they are known to take prey to the size of a small deer in the wild a dachsund was well within its capabilities. As is the way these... Sign in to see full entry.

From The Times 31/01/06. I kid you not. They are not all locked up!

Forget all the latest food fads, if you want to stay safe from Mad Cow Disease, antibiotic resistance and anything else nasty in modern farm food just eat naturally grown meat. You don't even need to kill it yourself - let a passing car do it. No, I'm not joking - enter Arthur Boyt, the man who eats... Sign in to see full entry.

To give or not to give? Charity or modern colonialism?

I sponsor a child in India. It was a mistake, I actually thought I was buying one (you can't get reasonably priced domestic staff in the UK anymore). OK, thats not true, but I can never resist a joke. However, it was a mistake. I thought it would be good to do something direct and see where the... Sign in to see full entry.

Sorry, this is a long and serious blog.

I once met a member of the Guinea Pig Club. You meet all sorts of people if you stand behind a market stall for long enough. One night in Italy he had been a crew member in an aeroplane that crashed when it was trying to land an agent to work with partisans. He wasn't one of the worst cases, though...
