Comments on Too much Simpsons, not enough Waltons.

Go to Wislon's modern mannersAdd a commentGo to Too much Simpsons, not enough Waltons.

If they respect ('n I am sure they do)

You respect them (And I am sure you do)

And then you continually modell, talk about and congratulate respect - other periphery things like swearing will become negotiable.

That's when you negotiate it right out of the scenario.

Good luck,  (There's a bit of acting as if in that as well.)

I think TV
can be a bad influence but the real decoder is the parents not the one in the set. If parents have a passive approach to tv, radio, web etc then their chidren are on undilluted receive mode. Our children have a pretty good lifestyle. We don't expect thanks but we do expect respect. I used to love The Waltons by the way.

If Christian themes don't bother you,
try listening to Down Gilead Lane--a kind of modern version of Waltons.  You can go to the website and listen to the audio dramas streamed from the site....

Can you say "Clockwork Orange"?
waltons DVDs?  do you plan on taping their eyes open and tying them to a chair, too?  This isn't Alex the Large, they're kids.

I don't think we can blame tv.... but the choice of programs maybe?
My nieces are still small, but they think "stupid" and "hate" are curse words.
