Telly,
We here could learn a thing or two from the Jewish community. When a Jew dies, he/she is buried within 2 days and there is no fanfare or excitement. We do thing so differently and so expensively.

So sorry to hear about your Auntie's husband.

I am sorry for your loss. I could never understand the need for expensive funerals; me, just wrap me in a shroud, put my tallit in with me, and a pine box will be fine enough.

Malcolm,
from your description it sounds like I have something for which I should be grateful.

Funerals, Weddings and Holidays
seem to bring out the worst in families

Sorry to hear this news
about the living and the recently dead. My thoughts are with you and your immediate family and hoping you'll be able to grieve properly so that you can all move on together. Memories of aunts and uncles from my youth were less colourful than a circus, more like dark and sinster and wearing vulture gear at funeral wakes.

Thanks, HG

I'm sure things'll be better.

Agreed, MerryAnne
Especially since it's supposed to be about the deceased.

Yikes, I hope the rest of the year is better than the first week!

I'm sorry Word
there are lots of folks who think that a funeral is about THEM... it's to bad.

Word
Sorry to hear about all this! I think there is an "auntie" in every family...

Thanks Ginne, I'll be fine.
It's my cousins I'm a little worried about.
