Original,
Maybe 'cause they're not used to it, so they didn't give it a chance.

I've only made fruitcake once and no one ate it!

Spitfire,
You have to wonder about the people in charge of the association I work for.   I did have fun tonight baking up a batch of cakes!

Jo, thankfully
we don't put money in the puddings this side of the world.

Word,
It does sound like the association belongs to you! Don't ya hate that? You run a business that isn't owned by you! Have a great holiday and have fun baking!

I have never been able to

take to fruit cake.

I remember when we were young to be allowed to find the threepennies in the pudding you had to actually EAT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Ulch!

I used to really weight up the worth of threepenny?  Yikes! People would tell me I was the most uncoperative child ever bin born and I would say.....

Telly,
I like Dundee cakses myself, 'course I always go overboard with the fruits.

I like fruitcake, but not the sort that has been soaked in alcohol (which is a big no no these days because of all the meds that I am on). Especially the lighter fruitcakes that have a lighter batter and lots of cherries in it! Hmmm. Maybe I should go make a Dundee cake....

Cass, would that we'd get things straight!

HG,
Our dark fruit cake uses browning - which is made from dark sugar. That's what make the cake so dark.  Then it's loaded with tons of fruit and lots of rum - enough to make you drunk if you're not careful.  By comparison light fruit cake is exactly that - light.

The amount of "arranging" you do at work never ceases to amaze me!

I'm just curious about how dark fruitcake differs from the stuff we have here!

Tiel thanks.
Accept my wishes for a happy and blessed holiday.  I will look up a recipe and send it on.

Offbeats, it's a non-profit sports association
These days our committee seems to be thinking of it being more of a non-paying and non-money-making association than anything else.  I don't think Quirky and yourself realize what you're missing out on not having dark fruit cake!

Thanks Fiona,
I will take things easy as I do want to be able to do more than spend Christmas in a dazed stupor.

Word
Have you ever watched "The Secret life of--" on TV?  Do you get it?  It's about FOOD.  Last eve I watched "The Secret Life of Fruitcake."  It, of course, went into all the humor of the "dreaded fruitcake".  But, actually , I like it.  Sometime, if others are interested, pass along the recipe.  I wish you a peaceful and SECURE CHRISTMAS.

WORD

What kind of company do you work for? It sounds like a real mess, I mean one must pay their employee's...

As to the fruitcake...I am with Quirky, but pass the cookies please! Enjoy your week~

I'm sure you'll have a most creative
week. Don't do too much though, you do want to be able to enjoy the holidays and not be exhausted.

MIssjohn,
It does pay to read the 'about me' tid bits on Blogit. So you're an islandgirl huh?  I know you know what I'm talking about when I talk about Dark Fruit Cake!

Of course I've had dark fruit cake
I kinda miss all the treats my grandma used to bake in Trinidad. The stuff they call fruit cake here in the States is fit for a landfill.
