Thank you.  Maybe it's just that generation that is cantakerous LOL!  It was always one of those things that endeared him to me.

Your grandfather sounds a lot like mine.
My grandfather served in WWII and was in the battle of Midway. He also got out of Pearl Harbor 12 hours before it was bombed. Cantakerous sounds like a good word to describe my grandfather, who has also been gone since 2001. Thank you for sharing this post with us!

Great post...and who better to write it?
Glad to finally get a moment to catch up with you. Happy Vets Day!

Two great entries for Veterans Day week.
It seems so appropriate to visit your blog this week. Before coming here today, I knew you would have something to say about Veterans Day, and both of your posts talking about it made me feel very patriotic. Nice job!

MilitaryWife,
"I could not love you half so much, dear, did I not love honor better."  I can't remember who said that, but your post reminded me of it, and the one word that comes to mind is: "Character", both in them and in you.  I hope the days between now and Carl coming home go quickly.

Military

I thought about you yesterday. I had wanted to write a post not only thanking the Vets for their valiant efforts, but to also thank you, and the people like you; wives and husbands of our soldiers. Without you guys keeping everything running at home and allowing them to concentrate on thier duty, things would be different. You guys do just as much and are not recognized for it..........I now give you that recognition and say to you and yours.........THANK YOU!!

Once again...
Every time I visit I get tears in my eyes... Not out of sadness, just the way you convey your feelings.  You are blessed and you know and acknowledge it; you love passionately and strongly and you don't forget for a day who you love; you probably don't let them forget, either.  I know how it is to love you grandpa and husband so much, and to know how it feels to be loved back just as much as you love them.  It is truly the most fulfilling feeling in the world.

Military Wife

On this Veterans Day....once again, thank your husband for his service in the protection of this nation and its people........ignore the rants of those who would have us do nothing and enjoy the praises from those that know and understand the task at hand..... it has to be done to protect our children from the types of events we see daily on the news.....

May God speed the day for his safe return from the war front..........

Hi, MW, that's a lovely tribute to your husband and grandfather......

I've known you long enough, through Blogit, to know that you do love your man and that he's your life.  I didn't know about your grandfather, but he sounds like he was a man any kid could love.  You are very fortunate to have had these two gentlemen in your life.

They are also fortunate to have you.  Good post and God bless.
