T, oh, wait, I know why you want my legs up in the air now....
Ya dirty dog, you. Took me a minute there.

Temple, Um, ah, no. Not funny. Funny for you, maybe, but
I think that would freak even ME out just a bit, no?

Don't worry, you won't need a spinal tap.
Wouldn't it be funny if you're legs just, like, floating up and we could make them balloons....just for a minute and freak everyone out?  (smooch)

Factor, a spinal tap?? Holy crap! That sounds scary and painful!

I'm thinking Spitfire...
I am not sure but I think I had to go through a spinal tap before they'd ok the MRI. I think like Temple said, you have to do the tests in the order they approve. Medical insurance pretty much sucks, what can I say...

Well, Guess what, Factor?
I was DENIED an approval for coverage for my f-ing MRI. However, they were so kind enough to allow me to keep my appointment for a C-scan X-ray and Thoratic X-ray. Which, will probably show zilch. Nadda. Cause if this is a muscle or disk problem, it won't show on an x-ray. Kick ass. I'm so happy I'm just being tossed around the red tape field as if I don't matter. I pay A LOT of money out of each hard earned paycheck for health insurance for THIS? Arrrrggghh!! I'm so pissed I could scream. (Well, I have done that and it hasn't helped.) Thanks for your info, though. I guess I'll have to continue jumping through hoops. All these doctors seem to want to do is drug me up (and shut me up.) Ain't gonna happen!

Spitfire, I thought you had played the medical game already
When it comes to new large medical costs, insurance companies tend to automatically deny everything. Then you point out where in their printed material it says it's covered or 75% covered or covered if preapproved or whatever. Then they resubmit it and after many phonecalls and relaxation techniques, they get it right and give you the green light to have it done or mail you a check to reimburse you.  Insurance companies suck. My sympathies.

T, I sure hope so cause otherwise, I'm gonna go postal on their asses.
NOBODY wants that.

Don't worry Spiffy...
That's just the steps they take.  I had to have a CAT scan before they would pay for my MRI.  They might approve it once you have the other things done.

Factor, well, I just got some bad news today.
My fucking insurance company DECLINED coverage for an MRI. They will cover only a C-Spine X-ray and a Thorasic X-ray. That may not show crapolla. Bastards.  I'm beyond pissed off here. I guess I just have to jump through the BS hoops and the real wrath Spitfire within me. Hope they're ready for that.

Nah, it's not MS for you...
My jolt would come if I tilted my head forward for the most part...I think it's called Lhermitte's syndrome or someting like that. It is always surprising the variety of sensations that you can feel... years ago I had not thought of some of them as "pains" since I always associate that with a cut or stomachache sort of feeling. But there really is no better word to get it across. Good luck with the doctor! I hope they can just figure out what it is and start fixing it!

Hell, no, Blanch. I thought the same thing.
I even mentioned to M that at least it was obvious that I wasn't there to score good drugs. I just kept asking them to please just fix me. They are the ones who initiated giving me the morphine shot and the scripts for pain Rx. I was just begging for an MRI. I had to schedule an appointment with my regular doctor to get that. I did, but talk about having to jump through hoops (and pay co-pays) just to get that!

Factor, holy crap! I hope it's not a symptom of MS!
I can't imagine what it feels like for you. I've always wondered about that kind of pain. Well, I'll find out Thursday. I hated that my doc mentioned it could be a tumor. Sheesh! (Now you're supposed to say, "It's not a toooomer" like Arnold Schwartzenhagger in Kindergarten Cop.!)

Spitfire,
Ruh roh, that doesn't sound good.  But you must have convinced them in the ER that you were really in pain and not just pain pill junkie cause they seem to be real careful about things like morphine, Percoset and valium. You really werent' faking, were you?

OMG
First of all, I am sorry you have been having so much back pain. But the thing that surprised me was that I know exactly what you are talking about! That electrical shock down the back is one of the lovely MS symptoms I have dealt with in the past. Except for me it can be a huge jolt sometimes. Luckily that one is taking a hiatus at the moment. I hope you get some relief soon...

Sorry to hear that, Ariel. It really sucks.
I can't imagine going through this kind of pain for that long.

I hope you'll recover soon.
