Thanks for sharing the misery of gas prices!
Now that you're riled about them, see today's posting about the 44 cents in taxes we pay out of every dollar of those too-high prices.

1.99?  And I was happy to pay 2.34 today!  Where are you, maybe it's a trend that will find it's way here!

Thanks for commenting!

Scoop, we here in northwest Ohio should be getting lots of kisses for all the ways Columbia Gas and First Energy screw us. The latest was Toledo mayor Jack Ford, who gets campaign contributions from electric utility First Energy, breaking a tie in city council to recommend that the state Public Futilities Commission let First Energy soak us for 25 years in exchange for 3 years of rates being frozen at current levels, whether they go up or down.

fwmystic, you are absolutely right about oil (but wrong about why the oil companies made profits), and I have advocated alternative energy sources. But, as I have noted elsewhere, that doesn't take us off oil now. We need to increase oil supply if we want to keep up with increasing demand, and we need to develop whatever energy source we will use next.

Let's see, energy companies got massive tax breaks ...
profits quadruple. Ipso factor ergo. Surely, even you must admit we should be searching alternate means of energy. We will eventually run out of oil.

I don't doubt it especially with the profits they announced
we got screwed and didn't even get kissed.
