Thanks for the comments!

Read it again, fwmystic. A smaller increase is not a cut in spending. But you do raise a fascinating subject. Where indeed is foreign aid for America as we clean up and rebuild from the hurricanes of the past two years? While we can do the work ourselves, it would have been nice for someone to offer, after we have sent so many trillions of dollars in aid elsewhere - and even now do so in spite of our own needs.

FLIGHTPATH Excellent read!

It's obvious all of this goes over some peoples heads......

Some of us may have seen the ads on TV...they were running them in our areas....Ads by the Dept. of Agriculture encouraging people to sign up for food stamps...they weren't giving enough away and the decided to promote it???  Now there's logic....

I often wonder how any President could even begin to believe they could get a handle on the monstrous Federal bureaucracy.  It's whole existence is built around the principle of self-perpetuation.

Why not just cut out food stamps all together and let the poor starve!
would that make you happy? Then other nations around the world could send us foreign aid. would that make you proud to be an american?

I think the point of the negative press is of all the wasteful spending in washington (the alaskan bridge to no where), why make cuts in food stamps???
