Ohmy!! LOL I'm sure THAT made your workday go by slooooooooooooooow. I can't say I've ever made it to work with 2 different shoes on, but, if I had the day couldn't have passed by quickly enough for me!

Good to hear that I am not alone in this.  One of the ladies at work told me to tell everyone that Not only do I wear several hats but I always wear several shoes LOL.

I know the feeling.  One of the mornings my unit was supposed to go to the gym before work, I just wore my gym clothes in and packed my uniform.  Well, when I was done working out, I went to put on my uniform and, lo and behold, had only one khaki sock.  Since my house was over 30 minutes away, my choices were:  wear white socks on both feet OR one khaki and one white sock.  I choose the latter and only kept the side with the right colored sock toward whomever I was talking to.  But, I soon grew tired of all that and just had fun with pointing out my "packing in the dark" moment.  Of course, at nine, I went to the store and bought new socks!

PLEASE DO!  I would like to have the info to pass onto our families here.  It's been a battle of a year here for us and I am praying we make it to his retirement in May of  08 without another...but I am not counting on it.  The good news is this:  My husband's unit was orginally slotted for 18 months, then 14, then 12 (boot on the ground, not counting training at Fort Dix).  They will be home with 11 months boot on the ground.  Yes, I know what that means for turn around time and redeployment could happen before 2006 is out but for now I am going to pretend that he is just not ever going back LOL!   Hopefully yours will also see less time than planned.

If they offer any lit for parents of soldiers, I would be grateful for that.  There are many upset parents right now that were told flat out that the briefing only covered married soldiers.

Thank you so much!!!

Actually We are a National Guard Family

It could just be that our state handles it differently.  Last week part of the 8 hour briefing was on PTSD and what signs and symptoms to look for. I can email you some info on it if you are interested.

Also I wanted to tell you congrats on your hubby coming home soon! I am so happy for you. Tell your husband thank you for his service and thank you for your sacrifice as well. My husband and I will get there we just have about 11 months to go now.

It sounds to me as if you are regular Army, which I am guessing makes a world of difference.  Our briefings don't even include the single soldiers, we were told that there is no way any of our soldiers will suffer from PTSD or any serious anxiety.

Unfortunately the people holding the briefings have not been in touch with what is really happening to some of our troops over there.  Do I expect my husband to come home with PTSD...I strongly doubt it, but who is to say that it can't or won't happen?

The NG does not have the same strong bond that the regular military has among wives and families, we are scattered through out the state and until a deployment might see each other for a few hours twice a year.  I have to admit more than once this year, I was wishing he was regular Army again LOL!

Thanks so much.

I am sad to hear that you aren't attending the reunion briefings as they helped me through a lot of the anxiety I felt about his reintegration with our last deployment. I go through the briefing with each unit that returns and I am always surprised to glean something new from them each time.

Oh My!

I have done that with socks but so far so good on the shoes.  By the briefings comments you are either involed with the FRG or you are a member of the military itself.  I know they have had tons of briefings here for the families now that we are nearing the end of the deployment.  After the first I quit going because most of the info was a waste of my time.

Enjoy your party and thanks for coming by to read me.

Lol!

One of the guys I work with did that once. The funny thing is,  none of us noticed, until he told us. I don't know why he bothered to tell us!!

I never really had a need for it until last week.

LOL, but yes it was very embarassing. I had to network with people all over the state with one red shoe.

OMG
How embarrassing is THAT? Maybe you should keep a spare pair in the bottom drawer of your desk, preferably both the same COLOR. :)
