If I'm correct, didn't I read in your blog a few weeks ago that you have a problem with scattered pieces of papers on your desk?? (I'm guilty of this myself). I'd be SICK if I wrote 4 pages of a novel, then lost them!!

Genius, you know it!

and you probably had things phrased exaclty the way you wanted them, etc. Nothing worse than losing work.

That's the great thing about being a writer
you can write about anything, even losing your writing

Oh no! That must be maddening. I often scribble when I go out, but I take a pad with me. Hope you find your bits of paper soon. BTW - I need your advice - please read my latest post!

Rhiannon, thanks.

I think I can do it. There wasn't much action - just a walk, a lot of thinking and a new character added. I'll be by soon to see what you're girls are up to lately.

Offbeats, Thanks!

It does pay to remember that I'm not alone.

Blanche,
My internet connection never chooses to go dead until I've witten a long comment.  When I have more than a few words to say, I tend to copy it before I click add, just in case. I never write straight to Blogit anymore, been there, done that and it's not pretty.

Libertine,
I think I'll manage to capture it. I cotinue to amaze myself with my writing. Ten times each day I'll ask what date it is, but I can remember complete sentences if they come to me and I can't get to write them down. Of course, trying to remember takes a whole lot of rhyming and memory magic  to retain what I want to say.

Telly, good luck with that....

I don't even want to think about what it feels like to lose computer files....I'm still reeling from the stuff I lost at work in July when my computer crashed.

MerryAnne,
I had me a good giggle at that image and it's a very sensible approach - experience does teach wisdom. Now that's something I'm definitely gonna do instead of moving note books around.

Oops, Tapsel,

I was about to say, thanks for keeping up with the story.  Even if you don't comment, it does help to know that the story is hitting the mark.  Thanks again for taking the time.

Tapsel,

This time I wish I could say, 'computers!', but I can't. This time it is silly old me.

Oh, word.smith.  I'm sorry about that.  I hate it when that sort of thing happens to me.  I have been reading your story but I have not known what to say.  The sadness of the "little girl lost" overwhelms me.  I keep hoping that pretty soon something good will happen to her to make her happy.

I feel your pain

Sit down as soon as you can, go back on your time line to when you wrote, and write again.

Word.smith,
I haven't gotten back into the "Fiction" section yet, so I haven't caught up with your story, but I do know how it feels to lose work, like having a Blogit post hiccuped out of existence after a good post.  Arrgh.

Again, this is something that would happen to me!  I hope you can get it all down on paper (or computer in its original form again!)

Ouch. I am wincing in sympathy over here -- I once lost about 120K worth of manuscript once. How it hurts still -- but NaNoWriMo is soon, and I am going to try and resurrect some of it.

Oh word....
I hate it when that happens... and it has happened to me more than once.  i'm so paraniod now that I keep a note book in every bag, diaper bag, purse and backpack I own!

Factor,

I think what you've described is even more painful - Losing everything in one go!
