Saul, I so agree about working together. However, I think "groupthink"
might be the cause of our not knowing in advance that the Iraqi army would dissolve itself and fight a guerrilla war.  Or maybe they figured, what difference does it make?  We're doing this thing one way or the other!

Although I respectfully disagree with your assessment of Dubya's political

prowess and leadership abilities, not to mention his ability to mastermind a military occupation, I do agree that most Americans find his dimwitted single-mindedness rather comforting.  George plods distractedly while the GOP plots distractions.  I am also of the opinion that this left-wing/right-wing extremism is detrimental to the country.  We're going to have to work on this together and make sure the politicians don't f**k it all up.

JJ Wilde! I did not recognize you, however, I like your new monikar!
One thing I have noticed accruing from this political air of extreme left vs. extreme right --  is the leaning to odd little bedfellow partnerships.  The senators who joined to avert the "nuclear option" in SC nominations, Hillary and any republican she cares to be seen with.  I think  the best is happening in the worst of political times.  Thanks for your comments!

Kingmi,

Read your post.  I was going to comment, but Blogit keeps knocking me off the bike.  You'll notice a new name here.  I think I may have screwed up, but now I get 30 days to decide.

I totally agree with your thoughts.  If the leader of the country is constantly fought with no support, we are all headed up Shit Creek.  Fortunately, I think at least part of our population is aware of that.  The most distressing thing to me is the shrill anger that so many people show when you disagree with them on these matters.  I see so much shallow thinking that it scares me, but I guess I've been fighting that since my university days.    jj
