Thank you for posting this. I, for one, was unfamiliar with the pledge the guardsman take, though I've always considered them to be a legitimate part of our military. With so many Cindy Sheehans out there, it's nice to know military spouses (like you) actually respect the service their men and women do for their country.

Not sure about every, but I am thinking there might be one that will when I put something of the sort in my column.  Thanks hon.

You tell 'em, woman!  I just love your loyalty and determination....it's amazing the assumptions people make, thinking they know how things work, without making the slightest effort to find out the facts....and then making blow hard statements about it.  I've heard that crap talk since 'Nam....drives me crazy!  Thanks for this post....wish every newspaper would run something like it....

Mike
So much about you reminds me of so many of my own soldiers.  I believe your heart is in what you do as soldier and that in itself shows very clearly.

MW,

"You go girl!" I'd be just as upset. Our guard does so much more for our country than regular military. Who do they call when a disaster strikes? Who do they depend upon in times of peace? Our National Guard. And if anyone tried to tell me they did nothing but sit around for a couple of days out of the month for nothing, I'd probably chew out ass royally, if not take a swing at them. Military Wife

I read through your posts and want to applaud you for your thoughts while going through this....

Don't listen to the naysayers....they thrive on negativity.  The National Guard not a part of their military?  They don't even care for any of the military.  I've heard it all before back during VietNam.   They called the NG  "No Good" ....fellow regular army guys would call us "No Guts"  implying we chose the guard because we wanted to avoid service  or the combat that could come with it.......

Nothing was further from the truth then and nothing is further from the truth now.  Anyone making such a statement is only displaying how deep their ignorance level is..........
