I think Mr Connick is just good on his own.

If he is the fruit of his family tree, i reflects well.

MayB, maybe the DA Connick felt, deep in his heart and before affirmative action, that the non-Cauc candidates just didn;t measure up.

Well it is an interesting idea and it is great when people use money and power to the good. Trouble is it's difficult for one person to determine what's right and good

trying to live down his family's past transgressions, maj.

It's why I never publically name any of my many past husbands, I'm busy trying to live a life contrary to theirs. Maybe I think that my good behavior, sharing, etc. will help them get into Heaven and allow them to be near their children. Dunno............ Pope Leo used to let people buy their family's way into Heaven in advance, it's how he built the Vatican, I heard. My small change would go to bail out my exs, who could use that now.

Harry is a sweet heart, a decent southern boy and he can sing, too. I liked him in that war movie, too. Pretty little thing.

I just get a little rash right here when the concept of

Ms Winfrey as a "common " person is presented as truth. There are many celebrities who conduct themselves far worse and do far less good.

Harry Connick Jr.'s grandfather was the New Orleans D.A., with an all-white staff. Current D.A. fired the staff and hired a black one, and had to go to court to defend it.

Mr. Connick has always seemed to be a "sharer", having given a number of up and coming artists tips, intro's and chances. And I loved him in "Independence Day"!

maj, is there any other person of power and influence who sincerely is

concerned about any news worthy event for more than the second or third photo or vid op? I think not.

Me? I admired the hell out of Harry Connick Jr. who drove down there the first day, with what little he could gather, daily and did feel their pain and walk among them and fill up with their same despair.....The only super star at the moment who was in it for the community sharing and for no other reason, using his face only when pushed into it, to beg for help, saying that if he was able to get there, where the hell was everyone else? Two days he did that, to no avail.

Your motives are none of my business, I just hang around and enjoy.

I saw her little excursion into the Superdome, watched the faces of those around her as they played out their little set piece, and now she says she knows how these refugees feel, she understands them.

Oprah knows how to run an empire and knows what it's like to live like the Kennedys. She is a force of Nature, and when her favor shines, it shines hard.

But next week it'll be the manatees or teens forced into plastic surgery by their moms.

homegirl, I admire many, many things that she does or leads us into doing.
I'll vote for your daughter, if I live long enough..... just be sure to email me when she throws her hat in to the ring....

no maj, I envision a three year long television realilty show.....nothing
positive to say, hmmmm.......I wonder what she did to you and yours, or what she said, or what you may have read or heard that might make your opinion negative. C'mon, maj, negative comments welcomed. It's why I wrote the post. What did you think were my motives? Aren't we in this for the clicks. Negative away, my man.

I had a comment but it was not positive.
Just make sure her fix will take one week to occur.

WhoJaExpect, NOT if we elect her Tzarina. They would kowtow to her.
And, maybe she could interview pole dancers from New Orleans, etc., now unemployed and maybe looking to relocate to new poles in new towns, do a resume' type show for them.

Oprah

Oprah for President !  I'm with you.  (Only how do we get rid of her producers who insist she have Pole Dancing and Guys who Get Naked for Money, out of the picture?)  Even Oprah has to knuckle down and toe the line when the "controllers" speak up. Did you notice that? It may not be what she herself wants, but she HAS to toe the line.
