THX MayB
This blog has been very helpful!

Right On
You couldn't have said this any better. Editors don't come to you unless you go to them first. Sometimes just a friendly introduction and query as to what they might need is all that it takes to make a sale.

Hi StevieC

I am on the road and will reply to you on my return

I think you're right about this, mayb
though, of course, I'm not hanging around in the writer's crowds as you are. But, it makes sense to me that half of all work is networking. Isn't that how popularity is formed on Blogit, after all??

Good post and....

I sent you an email if you will kindly take a peek at it.

That last sentence really sums it up
quite nicely May. Relationships are vital for any intercourse in life; personal, business or creative. In my opinion, why blogging has inspired and motivated many writers to explore other possibilities, venues, etc. with their work. Thanks as always for sharing your wisdom.

MayB, I'm taking your advice seriously...
You've emphasised that making and maintaining contact works. It has worked for you so there must be something to it. I'm learning.

Not unlike selling bus parts. In fact,
I have to make a few trips soon.  Not looking forward to travel... I always get some sort of cold or flu.  Take care MayB

Making personal connections works well in all areas.

I didn't care if it was logical or not...it made me laugh.

QuirkyAlone, thank you for the comment about my last line
You see by my !?* that I knew it didn't make any logical sense but I learned recently that we need to have a line or two in our work which makes the reader pause. I think I knew it and did it sometimes but now I understand it as a good technique.

It is hard to get to like and respect people if we don't know a thing about them. I mean if an editor has the choice between work from a faceless, voiceless person, and the one who they had a short but sweet interaction with well they are always going to go with the one they feel they know.

I am aware of this because I work solo

QuirkyAlone, I never get these things right do I?

So...the first to comment...doesn't that deserve a prize...like perchance a...response?

Cool blog. Cause I'm doing just that, trying to expand my article market.

Knowing I have a good relationship with the paper editor here...but how do you develop one elsewhere.

And, whoa! You must tell me how you highlight, cause I do it accidentally and want to learn how to control it. The power, the power of highlighting.

Hemlocker, it's the marketing approach which works for me

Yep,
This is good advice, and the last paragraph is especially valuable. If I decide to give it a shot again and re-enter the fray, part of the reason will be you. Hemlocker

It's so true--people want to do business with people they like and respect, and they can't do either of those unless they get to know you through contact.

Your last line was really great!!
