If you don't mind, I'd like to change my response, please.
Instead of "the Siegfried Line" ... I'll say, "the blowing up of bridges across the Rhine".

Btw, concerning the previous question ... did you know my homeland (former soviet union) suffered
way more casualties than any other country?

Interesting...
...to reflect that if either the firebombings, or the dropping of the two atom bombs, had been carried out elsewhere by the Nazis, they'd have been considered war crimes and those responsible prosecuted accordingly.
I guess it's that old adage - History is written by the victors.
