Here's how a handle a dilemma like this:

Sit down and make a list of why you want to stay and why you want to leave.

Then make another list of what you want out of your own life. What does Darla really want? How does she want to live? You have a right to be happy and live the life that YOU choose, NOT based upon anyone else's needs or demands.

Life is too short not to have joy and fun each day. At the end of it, if you haven't lived the life you wanted to live, then it's nobody's fault but yours.

Actually, she was talking about the conversation below in my comments when Jimsom and I were talking about the bear...she knew where I was going in the poem...but she's been in this quandry with me before...I can see where someone coming in it for the first time would be confused! Glad to see you back..have missed you!

Very nice, Kris!

I agree with mystic
Toward the end of your poem, you kind of took a right turn.

Very interesting, Krisles.

Krisles

Thought I'd check in on you before I close shop for the day.  By the way, I hear you about finishing off the AL series.  It's mostly written now, and the next thing I need to do is figure out what's up with my scanner, which is saying "no" to me now.  Brand new, too.  Thing is, I want to include a couple of images in the round-up post.  Anyway, pull that lip in

Read your post.  Keep on reflecting.  Every question has an answer.  Just maybe not tonight.  That's what pillows are for.

You didn't embarrass me, sweet pea...I'm the one askin' the questions!
I just realized how funny it would look to someone lookin' in from the outside...I don't give a flyin' burrito...I appreciate the help you've given me.  I love my mama and she has a real problem on her hands.  I think she is probably gonna go get a shotgun to keep there..she's been talkin' about getting one to keep up there anyway..she spends the hot summer months there - ususally May-September - and it is fairly remote so she does need some sort of protection, not just from bears.  Besides, you should know it's gonna take a whole lot more than this to make me get embarrassed around this place!

Yeah, kinda silly huh?
Sorry to have embarrased you...:) Enjoyed the conversation though...I added another post to my hunting blog if you're interested in reading it.

I just started laughin'...this is the most ridiculous soundin' conversation when viewed from from  a distance...78 yr old woman...walkin' dogs...pistol...dogs....bear.....should she shoot it...well, maybe...probably not a good idea....better if she could shoot it with a bow and arrow....get it in the heart and lungs....I mean, I am laughin' my rear off!!!!

posted by Krisles on August 4, 2005 at 9:08 PM | link to this | reply

Kris, By the way...
She won't be washing bear off the deck, no matter how big the dogs are... :)

Yeah, no offense to your mom....
but it would be a hard task with that gun, for anyone! I wouldn't recommend it really unless it was an absolute.

We're talkin' her out walkin' her dogs...on a leash...she's 78...it's night...and she can shoot..but still...I just can't see that she is gonna be able to hold onto a leash, aim a 32 and be able to hit a dang  bear anywhere with a 32 to be able to do anything but piss it off more...I don't know. I'd rather she stay on her deck and let the dang dogs do there business on the deck and wash it off in the morning!

The best thing would be an arrow through the side.

posted by SomeoneElse on August 4, 2005 at 8:26 PM | link to this | reply

Depends on what kind of bear it is...
A black bear, with the correct placement of the bullet-yeah, any other type bear, maybe, maybe not. Ah, she could do it as long as she pierced both lungs and then shot the heart - I'd use hollow point.

JimsonWeed - Thank You! Come back! I need to ask you something....

Now my mother is thinking I need to break her 32 down and mail it to her..now, I told her there is no way a 32 is going to do anything to help her against that bear! Do you think?
