Whacky,

If you haven't seen the mult-doored, limo version of the Hum Pig, you have really missed a show stopper.  When I first saw one I thought I was hallucinating.  To verify my observation, I looked, and looked, and looked for another, with no luck.  I decided that yes, I had hallucinated the thing--then it went by again.

Needless to say, I was stunned.  Those things are really offensive.  In city traffic they are about as impractical as anything can get.  They can't even be parked in a normal parking space without major problems.  They are, in fact, the epitome of insecure ego-materialism.  I hate that more about them than the vehicle itself.  If they were used, as they were designed to be, as bad-road or off-road vehicles, they would be fine.  Otherwise, they truly deserve to be blown to smithereens.

Whacky-very clever post.
Loved the drive through Wal Mart reference. Just yesterday I saw one of these monsters, a sliver one, seemed to be driving itself down Massachusetts Ave, one of the most congested streets in the city. The sun bouncing off it almost blinded me...

A humvee to go to Walmart..
well, when we got ours, we had the first running gun battle in 150 years in its parking lot the first month it was open.

Whacky
That was a fun  post.  What a contrast between the two critters you're writing about.  Got a laugh out of your hot-tub reference, too, but you finished me off with that image of a humming bird driving a Humvee...love it

whacky

i love my birds, hummers included, but they sure are bullies. We had one last year that chased all others away for a long time, then he started selectively letting soem share, never coudl figure him out

Whacky, I'd rather have the hummingbird any day--without the Hum-Vee.

Like the jeep, the humvee
is a military vehicle gone civilian. I really think that it's much more of an ego thing than a need for such a vehicle, as I stated in my post. Now about Walmart. A few years back after breaking my left leg in two places, I tried to make my way around Walmart on my crutches, needless to say this was a very exhaustive activity. The next time I put away my pride and accepted the offer of one of their electric carts. This is the only way to go. You know the saying, 'shop til you drop', well it's not going to happen and if the battery starts getting low you just trade it for another. I've never spent so much time tooling around Walmart in my life. I've been thinking about just taking my crutches along.

Hummers
Whacky, I couldn't agree with you more. I think the vehicles are really made for people with too many dollars and not enough sense.
