I believe the secret to writing a good press release is not to come across like you are selling something. It needs to appear as if you are providing good information. As an editor I tended to file sales pitches straight in the bin

Sounds good to me.
They go out from my office all the time (I don't do them) and your list pretty much seems to cover what I've seen being done there.
