I do wish I could protect him, but I can't. It's hard not to try and protect him from himself, but I have been down that road in the past with others, I know better.

I know it's hard when you're caught in the place where you want to protect your brother from everyone including himself. Unfortunately he will have to hit the bottom before he can stop the cycle . You did the right thing advising his girlfriend to get away before the cycle has a chance to repeat itself.

You tried to do the right and decent thing for the girl. What a horrible situation to be in. My prayers that your brother will seek help and realize what he is doing to you and her.

Honesty, this tears my heart out, I was
finally getting to have a brother whom I liked and admired and even had some of those typical sibling feelings...something very new to me. But, I can't or maybe better to say WON'T have that kind of behavior around me nor can I condone it and pretend it's ok. We spent our childhood pretending wrong was right, I won't live my adult life in that manner.
