DL, I respect your opinion, although I disagree with it, and thank you for
your civil tone!  Have a great day!

Once Again...
...you spectacularly miss the point.

I am not demanding a withdrawal from the "war on terror". I'm saying that the "war on terror" is a bloody farce, cooked up by the Bush-Blair partnership. You can't fight terrorism. Terrorism is a tactic that is almost impossible to fight. I know. I've seen our troops fighting US-funded terrorism in Ireland for over thirty years, and we didn't win. Why? Because it was an unwinnable fight. It's more or less over now because of negotiation, pressure, and a withdrawal of support from the population.

But no one has learnt anything.

Now, Bush "fixes the facts" (as it says in black and white in the Downing Street memo) to launch an invasion, illegal in international law which, rather than isolating the terrorists and starving them of common support, is actually drawing in more and more young men to fight because America, and the West, has over-stepped the line.

500,000 Iraqi children dead because of sanctions - confirmed by the UN.
100,000 dead in Chechnya, most of them Muslim, killed by our ally.
8,000 Muslim men and boys massacred in Srbrenica (sp?)
30,000 children a DAY dying from unnecessary hunger, many of them Muslim.
We haven't even talked about the atrocities in Palestine, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, and on and on and on.

If YOU were a Muslim, don't you think you'd be just a little bit pissed? Even if we do a head count - WTC I, WTC II, African embassies, Madrid, London - we would get nowhere near the sort of numbers that Muslims are looking at.

So - if dead Muslims = dead Westerners, do you think it's better to a) kill more Muslims, leading to more Western dead, or b) stop killing Muslims, leading to fewer, maybe no Western dead?

Duh.

Yes, I spoke to Passion today. She was getting her nails done. Their computers did not come in via Fed Ex. I imagine there is a back log on everything. She thinks she will be headed north, towards Georgia. They are getting slammed with floods there!

I just went over to glance at GlenB's post. I can not see where he has gained one ounch of common sense. He still does not get it!

As for education, I can relate somewhat. I was born very poor, but determined to be educated. Back then it was the 3 R's..today is more diverse. We must not loose sight with this diversity, we still need to know the 3 R's. Your doing the right thing!

OBP, thank you. I'm concerned that you're up so late. I see PF has
posted chapter 269.  Have you spoken to her today?  Is she OK?

OBP, no I think it was that the white education community did a good job
f***ing up the education of black America.  My point that we were making the same mistakes with the new Mexican immigrants.  Pisses me off to no end, I don't know why.  I guess I'm just a stickler for what's right.  After twenty years in the inner-city schools, I just think I know how to do it right, and people don't conform to my standards sometimes.  My program works because it is comprehensive -- reading, writing and math -- while everybody else is staying on the same page in rediculously out of date methodologie:  they teach speaking English first until that is mastered, then when it's too late they introduce reading.  Writing they rarely ever get to and forget math and science.  I had a supervisor hectoring me to stop teaching math, until his supervisor finally called him off.  It's un-f***-ing believable.  Really.

something yesterday.

OBP< did you hear Oreilley and Dick Morris tonight?
O'reilley complains that the liberals world-wide have turned the war on terror into Abu Grahib and GITMO.  Dick Morris says, Oh no they haven't, otherwise, the Austrailian president Howard wouldn't have been re-ellected, Blaire wouldn't have been re-elected, Bush wouldn't have been re-elected...

I think you sell yourself short in this area. I have spent a great deal of time tonight reading and catching up on all the reading news. Finally the documents are coming to the surface regarding the relationship between Iraq and OBL. The documents found in Iraq in one of Saddam's mansions, the other from one of those poor mistreated prisoners at Gitmo.

glennb, It seems like the terrorists hate freedom, but I htink they hate us having freedom.  At least that's the way it appears.

Kingmi,
September 11, 2001. A lot of death and destruction since that day! A lot more dead bodies! Who will be the first to cry "uncle"?

FLIGHTPATH,
Do you realize how foolish that statement is ("they hate freedom")? It can only be uttered by a fool who has no other reference point on reality!

posted by Glennb on July 11, 2005 at 8:03 PM | link to this | reply

Whether or not Iraq is home for terrorists (and it is for some), Iraq now is their focal point because they hate freedom. Analyse the situation all you want; but this is not rocket science.

Believe it or not I agree with both of these statements
terrorists would have targeted us even if we hadn't gone into Iraq...

And I disagree with the contention that:

...invading Iraq clearly made us a target.

But I also believe that Iraq is not a "home' for terrorist. Our troops did not have this problem in the begining but it got worse as time went on with insurgents and Iraqis themselves when they started attacking the troops and looking to disrupt.

I believe the terrorist training is in Syria, Jordan, Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan (as you can see by what has occured recently there) and other countries.
