We were there in 1987, Ainsley_Jo_Phillips
And I remember most how cool and comfortable it was. Outside it was a sweltering hot July day. My wife and I were taking the long, slow route home from my High School Reunion in Kentucky; Mammoth Cave is a bit more than an hour from where I went to High School.

One of the most restful and relaxing moments was when the guide turned off all the lights and we stood there in silence in pitch black. I want a room like that!

We did a lot of walking, up and down, and admired the beauty of the caves, the awesome formations, and the vigorous walks on slight upward inclines.

We didn't stay long, only the time it took to go on the tour, so we saw little else outside the cave. It is definitely a place I'd like to see again.

One Of My Very Favorite Places!!!

I would love to hear more about your Mammoth Cave experience!

Let's exchange stories!

For starters, I'm the first person known to have written part of a novel while 267 feet underground in The Snowball Room (at least, since the cave became part of a national park--and, likely, ever).

This happened back in 1985!

What year were you and your wife there?

TTFN!
