inkerd, I think you are right, a few years and they'll have powerhouse
armies.  It's the governments that need the bolstering.  Rumsfield was on last week about the chains of command in the governmets being weak.  Tantamount to banana republics.

I see the training we give these people. Well the Afghans anyway. The governments are not yet ready to handle that load. If we did leave it would all fall apart or worse. They are an undisiplinned soldier. They don't get paid regular, and every time they do get paid. They have a 30% rate of AWOLs. give em a few more years and it might be better. I think we should pull out anyways but thats just me. But these countries are in no shape to run them selves. Better yet leave the diplomatic ass holes to help them. We should get our ass home!!!

I just got my Monday morning Blackwater Tactial Weekly. Quote of the week:

OBP, I know, the benefit we will see from Iraq's oil will be a satisfaction

in the market, which should drive oil prices down.  I think the sooner we get out of Iraq, the sooner Iraq will step up, and the flames will die down.  Bush has got the job all but done now.  We need to start bringing the troops home and letting the Iraqis defend their own turf, which they will be more than capable of doing.

As for the bench.  Whew!  This has got to stop.  Those people that are repeat sex offender, sexual predators, child molestors, rapists and killers have got to be locked away permanently.  "Megan's Law" for all 50 states is the only solution.

Another thing, I am a stanch Republican, I make no bones about it. I love our President, I believe him to be a man of global vision. He has so much on his plate, more than we know. He has to make decisions everyday about the direction of how the greatest nation in the free world moves forward. I do not understand people who can't get that fact through their heads. Thus far he has come through with more than what anyone ever thought could be accompolished in the time frame he has had. Just like the elections in Iraq, ahead of schedule, etc. There was no credit for that, he didn't ask for it, but without his determination to get the mission completed it would not have been so. Then you have some loonie come out of the corner and say, he did it for OIL... please, have we received a dime from any of that oil..NO! Should we..YES...will we..we WILL SEE.

I am not in the mindset that the religious right is driving the war either. Maybe the bench, and quite frankly, with a nation whose liberal laws allow men who kill little girls to walk free..maybe sewing up a few loop holes would be in order..

That is what I was referring to. I read that. I think the arguement is weak, that is to say, the arguement of the global vision being so divided. No civilized nation is going to relinquish their freedoms because of a religion. Look at Iran, internally they are ready to explode, the people want democracy, not the religious leaders telling them how to dress in the morning. People know there is a different life, they want it too. Especially the young. In Iran they go into the elements just to have rock and roll parties. Now tell me that isn't a nation ready to change w/in a short time.  Thanks for the hug~~

two sides of a political divide.  Sad that we can't exist that way without hurling insults across!

The Islamic terrorists brought a spiritual dimension to the war???? Well, what the hell did Bush do???? Exactly the same!

Ms. N Dependence has a point
Not that white jedi is right, but that the terrorists have given their war against the civilized west a spiritual dimension that is horrifying. They view all the West as infidels to be destroyed, and it doesn't matter one damn bit if you want to make nice to them like the anti-war people do or not. They hate western civilization for the most simple reason of the fundamental bigot - because we are not like then. If we abandoned all we stand for and adopt their ways, then maybe they'd leave us in peace. But as long as they are sworn to kill "infidels" and believe they are being rewarded in the world to come for it, we ignore them - and oppose their extermination - at our gravest peril. Bush and Blair have it right - take to game to them and hit them hard.

whitejedi & MissN, It is not theterrorists that we fear but their idealogic
leaders who tell them what to do.  If they lose their countries and their asses, they will begin to see a different light perhaps.

Somehow I find the mayor's - and Blair's - comments . . .
. . . to ring truer than damon's as far as a gauge of the British morale. Churchill lives on in Blair and Mayor Livingstone's approach, whle the ghost of Chamberlain moans in damon's writing.

I am afraid whitejedi is right.

Their deep faith in the afterlife is linked with their cause. They laugh their asses off at us for placing any type of value on life in this world.

Better a nation of prisions, holding people who need it, than the killing fields it was! The world better wake up to that fact. Most intelligent nations have. We will never give into the terror, nor will we react out of fear, we must stay on course and hunt the murderers down. As the President said, no nation is safe that harbors terrorists. Whatever it takes, we must stand together and be strong!

What a load of fucking crap!
the terrorists don't care how stupidly brave or courageous we are.  It's the British and American citizens that don't get it.  Ideology can't be stabbed, bombed or shot.  For every terrorists that dies there's another hundred that can't wait to join the glorious jihad.  The idiotic sabber ratling that both Blair and Bush is engaged in makes me sick.  There is no noble or great purpose behind invading Iraq.  It all boils down to making a profit off of oil.  Bush doesn't give a hoot about what happens to the Iraq people-good or bad.  Saddam told Bush to fuck off.  It had nothing to do with people being tortured or massacred.  Iraq's a sorry mess.  Unless you count a nation of prisons as a shining success.

...on the contrary, it is YOU who doesn't "get it".

This "spin" that says that our nations have been brought closer by the Thursday attacks is low, but little more than I'd expect from someone who clearly laps up US media and sees it as "The Truth".

The reality, I'm happy to say, is quite the opposite. As you'll see in my latest STOP THE WARS post, the attacks have strengthened the resolve of the British people to end our disasterous relationship with Bush NOW, to end our disasterous involvement in this illegal oil war NOW, and to try to help sort out the ginormous fuck-up that the Bush-Blair partnership has created in Iraq.

You really couldn't have read the situation any more wrongly if you'd tried. Well done.

They never will either! You can't do those things and expect strong ,free loving people not to stand up with a new resolve! Look for a greater amount of support from England to hunt these murderers down.

I have to tell you. I heard this morning the "global" politican who is lossing his support  base the fastest was none other than Charic. Not surprised by that!
