A sign in the sky
Here in the back woods of KY we have more little churches than you can shake a stick at. My father always referred to an individuals who got the "call" to preach from some mysterious commune with the almighty a "Jack Leg Preacher". I have no idea where that term originated but my dad could always provide an anecdote: "One day Brother Pete was outside and saw the letter "P" written in the sky. He interpreted that as a message from god to preach, when in reality the message was to go plow."
I am enjoying your take on the new reformation.

I think they call it Quaker
I believe what you describe is how the Quakers operate... though this is just from how I heard it described once. Perhaps another blogger can correct me if I'm wrong.
