We take them for granted, I guess.

I am with you on this one, word.  Have you ever noticed that you tend to find some people fascinating to listen to but, as you say, the light doesn't dawn?

Spitfire,
Since losing my mother I've realized just how much of a well of information she was. I also realize that some of the info she had - re my childhood and such, I'll never be able to access again.

Word,
I think we underestimate the knowledge within others close to us and most often don't even think to ask them for it. (Not on purpose, of course.) I think the best thing is to ask our elders because they have experience much more than we have. I still get info out of my mom and dad that I never knew cause I never asked.

Aren't you going to bed Ginnie?

It's 12:10 a.m. by my reckoning. 'Course, I'm a fine one to ask.

True that, David.

Senior citizens do contain a weath of information that dies with them otherwise.

i had never thought of it like that but you are entirely correct....... i imagine now i will never think about those who surround me, even at a distance, without wondering about this. :)

One could always ask their elders
I am sure they would provide plenty to write about.
