That is about as fair an assessment of average southern thinking as there
is, kingmi.  Being from the South, myself, I have lived among that type of thinking and the less ignorant, more progressive as well.  I prefer the latter by far, because some traditions need become the past.

We are in agreement on that, twodog. The atrocities committed upon
my people on the Trail of Tears, the Dakota at Wounded Knee, the Cheyenne at Washita, and the Southern Cheyenne and Arapaho at Sand Creek will never see anyone held accountable, nor will most of the other terrible occurrences forced upon them before and since.  But at least a few of the beleaguered minorities in this country are getting some justice, even if a bit late.

Saul, he feels he did nothing wrong as his was a crime committed in the
100 year insurgency against the North.  Were it not for the invention of TV and MLK, he would still be in the majority down South.

Mississippi Burning

I'm embarrassed the country, the world, had to wait so long for a murder to be brought to justice. The fact that most of the participants are dead make not difference. I'd just a soon the killer got the needle instead of a comfortable jail cell, good medical treatment, for the rest of his life. However, I surely do wish there was as much passion about bringing to justice the members of the Seventh Cavalry who massicured innocent children, women, and men at Wounded Knee.
