A breath of fresh air..

Its good to hear from a veteran who actually knows what he is fighting for. So many of the veterans groups blindly support Bush because he is the "Commander In Cheif". Never mind that he didn't have the courage to fight beside you, or that he is sending our soldiers to battle fo personal gain. Menawhile, while they are fighting, he is abolishing the very freedom they are supposed to be defending.

I hope most mericans are not the wussies they make us out to be. I myself prefer peace, but if I have a choice between freedom or dictatorship... I would fight for Freedom as my forefathers did.

By the way, I'm also from Ky originally. Must be something in the water.

Another Vet

It's good to see some Vet's speak their piece, words always have more weight when there is actual experience behind them. Points of vew are much easier to consider when, name calling, personal attacks, are all you have. I figure it this way, if name calling and personal attacks, questions about folks intelligence, are all you have, that's all you have. No real opinions, no actual points of view, nothing to really say but, you ain't right, you don't get it, your stupid, or in my case febbel minded, you're an idiot, you stink, and on and on.

Now, I agree with some of what you said, and, then again, I don't. But, that's okay, You make me think, reconsider, and thatn, is a good thing.

Except, uh, I believe we were attacked, I really do. Just like my parents believed the Japanese attacked the U. S. at Pearl.  The surprise thing was a mistake, and Yamamoto knew how serious a mistake it was. I tend to look at history for answers, because usually, they are there, in black in white, in the experiences of our parents and grandparents. Terrorism is a differnt bird guy, there aren't any borders, or governments, just individuals bent on doing some pretty serious damange to folks they don't agree with, all the way back to the hijackings in the seventies.

Good post, made me think.

This veteran is also ashamed and I couldn't agree with you more.  It seems lately that if you scare the crap out of the American citizen then you can pass whatever legislation you like.  All you have to do is put the word "Patriotic" in front of it, or hype it up with some fearful words and people will totally buy into it.  "oooh...it says Patriotic Act...it must be good" regardless of the fact that I can now report anyone one I want on suspicision of terrorism and they can lock you up and throw away the key.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
