Oh so true!
I love how you said that MayB "grading and appraisal isn't an exact science." Same with publishing. Just because someone doesn't like your stuff, doesn't mean it's bad. Just like the author going up against Dan Brown.

Wordwizard congratulations. That's great. I certainly did not want to discourage this student but I wanted her not to stress out too much. You see she was trying to drag herself from C to A in an afternoon

Just done the same thing myself

I'm back at school and I wanted to be sure I got all As this time around. For everything. So I did just that! I went to the guy at the desk and asked what I needed in order to bring my mark up to an A. <p)

And I did!

Yes, I did put a lot of pressure on myself. Am I going to change my aspirations? No. I'm going to keep going for the As. Just not going to take on so much in other fields! I love the feeling of getting an A!

Blogit as a training ground?

Yeah, when I first got into blogit, I was so concious, as to where I stood, my ranking, my number. Now what matters is, how people are liking my posts.... .... and what are the commets I am getting......

I used to check my ratings, but nowadays I barely have time to write one post and catch up with reading, so I don't even look at the ratings anymore!

The numbers game....isn't the point...practice
makes perfect....

That's for sure.

I used to write something for each blog everyday. Nowadays, I'm happy if I just post to one blog. When all is said and done, stuff - including ranking and all that - really only matters if we let them.

One way to increase your clicks is to visit other people -- the ones who
will click back. I've given up on the ones who don't click back, you see... And that's how I got here just now.... so you're doing that right, besides writing about writing, which is what us writers are doing here in the first place....

MayB, are you sure you're not Beachbelle? You remind me of her.

MayB

...and so we let come who will. Thanks for the visit. I agree, we're a pretty oblivious people....well us bloggers maybe a tad less oblivious. We have to be more observant to gather our gems of material...

You know MayB....
..it is nothing short of genius that you manage to come up with new ideas every time you write about writing..never dull..how do you do it?????????

Well - it seems to me
that it depends on the day, the weather, how you hold your mouth while you're writing and how many black cats walked around your house as you were clicking save&post.

But in general people here seem to like to read about writing. so ....

MayB, recently I showed my Fiction At Its Finest work to about 6 different (outside Blogit) people and received a similar reaction from all of them. They 1. Had no appreciation for it... 2. Wondered what type of medications I must be on... 3. Most of them gave no comments whatsoever... 4. My dad told me I should write children's story... apparently he picked up on the "easy-to-read" factor.

It made me realize what a sham Blogit is... whom/who are we kidding? I thought Fiction rated at #3 was a fairly decent score, but NOT NO MORE...

Oops, MayB, I guess your wording was "dull" not "boring". Sorry. Dull is relative.

MayB, since most of us are here because we are interested in writing, blog posts on and about writing are usually read by many whether they are "boring" or not. Boring is relative.
