It just goes to show how confusing words on the screen can be

Actually CarolynMoe I was not apologizing
if you don't have a sense of humor, get one. I am tired of saying I am sorry over a statement made in jest. Take a joke or take a hike.

MayB,

Strange, isn't it, that even joking about provocation becomes an act of provocation?

posted by Blanche. on April 12, 2005 at 3:17 PM | link to this | reply

That's a relief. It's strange how a post bemoaning provocativeness turned out like this

Apologies accepted Scoop... how little we know one another here.  Thanks...

CarolynMoe I am sorry I thought you were kidding here, like I said
yesterday I didn't mean to offend anyone with the comment, it was meant in jest.

Scoop old pal, if you only knew how funny you aren't...

CarolynMoe thanks, now I feel better, don't forget your meds

Scoop, you simply revealed your "same old redneck" self... excuse me, my Psychiatrist is calling.

It's so funny to have written about provocation and sparked all this

Scoop,
I think that's a good thing.  Anyway, it shows that you care if you've (potentially) hurt someone's feelings, and about Unidentified Hacker himself.

Actually UH caught
Scoop the wiseass off guard, I started to show a sensitive side, damn!!

UH,

People take me too seriously, too!  But now and again, I am actually serious, so I guess ya just never know!

It's true, it's hard to be deadpan on a computer.  That's my exucse anyway and I'm sticking to it.

I know the feeling. All too well =P

posted by Unidentified_Hacker on April 11, 2005 at 5:20 PM | link to this | reply

or rather they think I am entirely serious when I am being funny. I guess my humor is not that funny ;-(

Unidentified Hacker, I have the same problem that people don't know when I am being serious

posted by Azur on April 11, 2005 at 5:10 PM | link to this | reply

Oh and hey
Just as a heads up and future warning to everyone: If anything I say sounds offensive or has a tone like I'm angry, 90% of the time it's not serious ;)

MayB
I'll start tacking a little disclaimer on to posts that aren't serious =P

posted by Unidentified_Hacker on April 11, 2005 at 5:01 PM | link to this | reply

Unidentified Hacker, hey at first I thought you were being funny then I thought I must have misuunderstood. Call myself a writer, I don't understand a damned thing.

Scoop and MayB,
Okay, I went off on a tangent and took a wrong turn to Albuquerque with Unidentified Hacker's comment, took him too literally and tried to (gasp) Offer Advice.  Which usually gets me into trouble.  No harm, no foul.

I blame roofpig
It's all his fault

You guys
Oh you guys. I wasn't being serious at all! scoop mentioned three types of people: The people who do it to piss you off ("The last guy that gave me directions was trying to piss me off by saying that mental illness isn't real"), the people who will still allow you to debate (" and the guy before that wanted to debate whether or not mental facilities were effective"), and those lost causes who are trying to find their way back to the mental hospital ("I'm just trying to find my way home!"). Sorry for the confusion =P

Unidentified Hacker
Sorry nothing was meant by that and hey, we are all trying to find our way somewhere

posted by Azur on April 11, 2005 at 4:19 PM | link to this | reply

MayB you are right I did not look at it that way

posted by scoop on April 11, 2005 at 4:18 PM | link to this | reply

Scoop, it seems we were unintentionally provocative. I knew that you were not trying to be offend.

posted by Azur on April 11, 2005 at 4:16 PM | link to this | reply

Scoop,

No offense taken here (see other comment on my blog), but thank you for the thought.

MayB
don't know my comment was going to stir things up, hopefully in a good way and like I just said in the comment section to mary x, it was not meant to offend

Excuse me...
Hey gHey guys, I was just passing by and I was wondering, do any of you know where the nearest mental hospital is? The last guy that gave me directions was trying to piss me off by saying that mental illness isn't real, and the guy before that wanted to debate whether or not mental facilities were effective. I'm just trying to find my way home!

Anyone care to debate me about whether the US government is covering up life on Mars? I think that would cover 1, 2 and 3.

posted by Blanche. on April 11, 2005 at 3:01 PM | link to this | reply

You are not the only one that's bored. I enjoy seeing honest debates. I
enjoy seeing open discussion on controversial issues. However, when one creates issues by sheer antagonism by debasing another person for their beliefs, then I find posts of a more worthwhile nature to comment on, such as this one.

Haha, re No.3 . Are we the No.2s a dying breed?

posted by Azur on April 11, 2005 at 2:41 PM | link to this | reply

I couldn't agree more, in my opinion there are three types
First are controversial writers who do it  just for clicks, the second can be controversial but you can debate them, and the third is a lost cause trying to find his or her way back to the mental health unit.
