Er sorry, I'll rephrase the first part of that. People don't even know if the reporting of the quotes is accurate let alone if what they said is true. A reporter might report the truth of what was said but whether the source told the truth is another matter entirely.

Scoop, the reporting now is what people are saying. People are unable to discern that the story might be accurate in reporting what someone said but whether that person was telling the truth or not is another matter.
Many readers see what they want to see and do not appreciate the subtleties.
From my reading of what you report in your post about the conflicting accounts, my understanding is that the priest and the friend said that Terri Schiavo raised her hands. It is true they said that but whether it is a figment of their wishful thinking or it really happened, we'll never know unless it can be verified.

The news story was not about what really happened but what they said happened - big difference.

MayB, all I ask is for the truth based on facts

"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts." Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan

I try hard to base everything I write about on fact, because I don't want someone to call me on it.

Much of what is being reported here on Schiavo is conflicting like I wrote in my latest post. One person here says her eyes are bleeding and her skin is peeling and then in their next post on the subject they say a friend visited her and Terri raised her hands, but NO blood was mentioned. So what is the truth?
