truth
the truth is not outside of you, which is why it is never found. when another is speaking the truth, it cannot be truth to those who read it; unless, of course, they stop to examine themselves objectively in relationship. can you catch the wind in your fist? truth can only be direcly experienced. judgment prevents this process.

Platitudes . . .
are nice, but they rarely mimic spiritual truth; honestly, we don't even know what spiritual truth is, other than it is nothing we have come even close to imagining. All religion is an attempt to know the unknowable, and to pretend we have discovered what cannot be known.

forgiveness, pappy
that is how we see ourselves. unforgiveness is how we keep the veil over our eyes.

Good post, avant
Thomas Merton said that hell was the hatred men feel for one another and for themselves. We hate the feeling of unworthiness our failures cause and continue to cause, and we especially hate the unworthiness of others. The only way out is in faith that God loves us anyway. The operative force in our lives then becomes gratitude instead of guilt.

God's son
is a term i use to depict all life. the universe, the sky, the trees, the insects, the plants, man. we are all One being. only when i go within myself to the root cause of my need to defend myself do i see that i am reacting to a state of feeling weak, insecure, and isolated. and, defenses create what they seem to give, which is more weakness and insecurity. fear begets fear. love begets love. if you want to experience love, you must give it. indiscriminately. it's not about the other and what he is saying or doing. this was the crux of Jesus' message.

Well, yes, Avant-Garde . . . .
I do believe that all life is interconnected at some level, but there is no rational reason, other than one's faith, that that idea of interconnectedness should lead to the idea of God's Son. And I just do not happen to share that faith; I do not condemn it; I just don't share it, and never will.

archiew
so, then my appeal is that you honor God's son, for he is part of us. believing in nature as you do, do you not respect the interdependency of life? we need our brothers the way an index finger needs a thumb for the proper working of the hand. when we attack another, we are attacking ourselves. we are One being.

No it isn't . . . .
It is a state of spirituality, far different from religion. However, there are charlatans in every religion, including Witchcraft. Again, it is in the behavior of the religious charlatans that I condemn them, and rightfully so.

Archiew, isn't being a witch a religious thing?   If so, in your own words, you are a charlatan, a roach, etc, etc, as you call christians.   Or am I missing something?

Yes!
And the similarities of these Christian beliefs are parallel to the beliefs of non-Christians, such as myself. As a Solitary Witch, I, too, celebrate the re-birth of the Son, the ressurrection of nature's life and the holiness of all that.
