Exactly, MayB. It takes huge buildings falling inside our own borders to

put us in touch with our deeper emotions. Millions died all over the planet in the year that our buildings fell, but our news coverage had taught us to ignore that and had taught us to not feel anything anymore when viewing horrific things, or when presented the facts and photos.

Jaded, dulled, bored, made immune, doped and too drugged to care. Paxil rules America, when we're not busy being a Prozac nation. Those not drugged are drinking, Not watching t.v. or the news anywhere, or too ignorant to understand what they are hearing, its implications, etc.

Benzinha, people only believe "worst-case" scenarios too. Their senses have been dulled by lousy news coverage

MayB, t.v. and government love, love, love 'worst case scenarios'.
There's money in it for everybody, if you can imagine the most horrifics scenes, then scare and convince enough people that all hell is breaking loose, here, now over there, now behind you, now to the left of you and yours, you can make money fighting those "imaginary" horrors or better yet, and less easy to verify, "prevent" those horrors from happening.

Scoop, inevitably the caller is left feeling afterwards like they did not say what they felt like saying. At least that's way I've felt when I have had my view aired

Tapsel T, good observation on the phone being hung up, that is the way
many of , not all, but many of these radio and TV shows work. They let the person say something and then they either keep interupting the caller or their producer cuts the call and then the host gets "the last word" and mostly the caller looks like a fool. The only time this is reversed is when some idiot idolizes over Sean Hannnity or Rush Limbaugh

Tapsel-T, it is heartless and it disturbs me to see people preyed upon so.

MayB, you know the thing that bothered me the most was the answer that was given to that fearful, disabled person.   The anser given by the guest on the show was, "You have good reason to be fearful."   This was said after the phone was hung up so the fearful person could not ask any further questions or seek any comfort.   This seemed heartless to me.

Scoop, sometimes it is necessary to plant a little fear of course if people are not paying attention to what may harm them but in many cases fear is only a vehicle to $ales.

You are so very right

Fear has become a big factor on many issues since we were told Iraq was a threat to us because of WMD and then it was used in the election by both sides and still goes on with the discussions on social security.

Remember all the fear two years ago with plastic and duct tape?

Fear $ells
