Red,
It helps to hear the experiences of a fellow traveler. Right now I haven't been reading enough. It's hard to sit for very long at the computer when Kelly is at home. I don't want her to read what I say.

Voyager,
We always looked up to Belgium because of the experience of the one city that took into their homes, mentally ill from all over the country. I can't remember the name right now.

Kingmi,
Thank you for your comments. It means a lot that people care. Lithium is a good drug but it is very easy to get too high a dose. It is hard on the kidneys since it is a salt. Of course all of these medications have serious long term side effects. The only thing worse is untreated psychosis.

Make2, Blessings to you folks. Keep a close eye on Kelly!
Our family has lots of experience with misdiagnoses, etc.  The best drug we have found is lithium.  Never doubt that it can get worse for you.

I do advocate, but I am just a whiney parent. NAMi could be a watchdog that bites!

Make2,
Our family hasn't worked with NAMI, it is good to get your perspective. I agree that the work of advocate organizations is essential in raising awareness, passing legislation and representing individuals. However, I do think that it is important that we each learn individually to advocate as well. I can understand that you are too tired, believe me, I've been there, to change the NAMI organization. My very best to you and your family.  red
