I agree it is a gift. I also regard it as a gift to have a ready-made audience as we do here. I think that some of the mean stuff is sparked by a desire for self-promotion. But ultimately the rewards of such success are short-lived and hollow.

Agreed that unauthentic writing is bad, and yes, critisism can be a good thing. What I was referring to in my posts were those bloggers that just post bad things to be mean, and consistently put down others instead of telling them what is good, not so good, needs improvement. I haven't experienced anyone that has been doing that to me yet, but I have read so many posts from those who have that I consider it fair wsarning nothing more. Writing is a gift, however they only way to discover if you have a gift or not is to test the waters.

Anyone can write with an authentic voice
When it lacks authenticity and heart that's when writing can be bad. Criticism can be a positive if viewed in a way that the critic wants to see the writer improve and if the critic is real in the motive of providing encouragement

Question, tigerprincess? Is the ability to write a creative gift or a debilitating itch?

Very good post
I've written for as long as I can remember. Something about it always fascinated me. Little stories, poems, thoughts, a few words here and there, but never considered my self a writer. Then in high school I took a creative writing course also with an excellant teacher. She encouraged me. Then several years back I took a couple of college writing courses and was told that I should consider submitting my work to various places. I've still not made much effort on that track, but it's something I really enjoy.

I like the poem, very much,
but in reference to attacks I am out of the loop. I guess I don't come here often enough. I hope no one is giving you are a hard time, personal attacks are uncalled for. Take care :)

You have been given a gift
Your poem is a strong one and I like it. I also agree that anyone can write if they really want to. I feel though that you must have a love for it. If someone doesn't like doing something then chances are they won't excel at it.
