empty_handed_painter - you would think that people would catch onto the
fact that mankind has been waiting for the second coming for a long time with no results as yet. The apocolypse however can be a self fullfilled prophecy. Hitler convinced himself that he was in fact fullfilling a biblical prophecy with the returning of Jews to their homeland (most people forget that the holocaust began as a mass deportation long before the thought of extermination). Maybe my notion of feeling that some are capable of taking what they believe to this extreme is a form of paranoia but when so many people believe it to be true how can one not be a bit concerned? After all we have full grown adults speaking as if they are certain that Satan is a real corporeal being. How far of a stretch is it to think that some of these same folks, who quite often speak of the final judgement day may do something to hasten that day's arrival?  There are certainly peope here on Blogit I hope never set foot any where near the big red button.

David1Spirit --- I don't know how any person could give you a hard time
over what you have written in your post. Especially in the excerpt that I have clipped from it. If one has any level of awareness at all they must concede that there are a countless number of versions of God on this planet. Querying as a generic public challenge as to why one person feels their specific version of God somehow has validity enough to impart as a message to others is a fair question. Anyone not seeing this or not having answered this question, if even for themselves alone, should not be preaching anything. Yet many do preach a message, buying into the time worn mantra: "more religion is what society needs" or it is simply enough for them that their preacher or momma or friends told them that they are the chosen people.

Another item I liked

The line you wrote:

" ...I want a society with freedom from religious persecution written into the constitution. I also think it might be an idea that while I am at it to do my part to shut down those who believe in a doomsday scenario as an inherently glorious part of their religious dogma...."

One can only hope!

Good post

I thought your aim was maybe to trash my post; which you didn't. I thank you!

Others wouldn't have been so kind; they would have told me about the fire of God or some other wicked stuff that was waiting for me. They do that often.
