As far as legitimate disability goes, obviously it's a completely different kettle of fish.  A disabled person has the same rights to independence as anyone else.  I do them the courtesy of not treating them like invalids, however, as I'm sure most civilised people would...

I am sorry, never thought of that.  What is your opinion in legitamate cases of disability?

Thank you, and you're right, I should have mentioned it.  I put too much faith in these people...;)

oooops...looks like you caused a riot...LOL
but I am sure you didn't mean to offend anybody...if these people lived in britain and saw how many people fake disibiliitys and get these parking things easy then they may understand a little more...LOL...maybe you should have said

Chris, a handicapped gangsta or a walking gangsta with a fake limp?  I mean were you trying to be a handicapped gangsta?  Damn....

So it's OK when I make fun out of myself but not other people?  OK, that sounds fair...

Yeah, I've done it before now...but I don't think my fake gangsta limp was believable.

Have you ever considered that I might be disabled?  You don't know me personally.  For all you know I could have a severe disability in my lower back caused by three crushed discs.  Also, like I've said, disabled spaces in my country are rarely given for legitimate cases.

park there anyway.  I do.  I'm not dead yet!  I have a habit of thinking in life or death terms.  If it won't kill me then more than likely I'll try.

You are a hero, but like everyone else you're assuming disabled parking spaces in Britain are for actual disabled people, as opposed to parasites of the lazy variety.

Damn it, I wondered where my ticket went.  I'll have to borrow Mother's again.  She has a gimptard pass.  Absolutely anywhere, mate.

Again, if you ever visit Britain then make sure you check out our version of disabled drivers.  You'll see my point more clearly then, perhaps without seeing red.  Woo

Take a trip over to Britain and tell me how many legitimate disabled drivers we have.  If you can find ten within a 100 mile area then...well that's the thing, you won't find ten.

Ya know, I love it when you make fun of people, and I especially love it when you make of yourself.  Today's post isn't so funny.

I don't get some people...
I normally don't read you, but the headline caught my attention.  I have a disability, and am hurt by your labeling disabled parking spaces, "stupid." Such spaces enable me to be more independent.  I am so sorry you feel that way.

Well Christopher, did you get the response you wanted? Don't worry
hon, I still love you!  I'll wipe out your flames with my bare hands.. :)  Me thinks sometimes you like to poke the bear with the short stick to see who will lick your wounds, huh? :)

Me complacent?

I don't think you can use my name and complacent in the same sentence. You know that! I am the first to stand up and shout when I feel strongly about something!

What I feel very strongly about right now is that you aren't helping yourself much!

PastorB

Then write a post about it. But sitting here in the comments section of the very post you want people to avoid isn't gonna get it done! If anything it'll get exactly what he wants, readers!

David, my cause? What the fact I have the nerve to say something
is wrong when it is? The fact that disabled people have a hard enough time in this world without jerks like this making it worse?
This goes right back to what is and isn't acceptable in our society and it makes me sick.
I can't stand you complacent people anymore.

You know, it doesn't help your cause or argument much drawing attention to it like this!

posted by David1Spirit on January 28, 2005 at 4:51 PM | link to this | reply

PastorB, when I saw the title I knew he would be catching slack...I know
a disabled man who would actually find this amusing...we all need to laugh at ourselves, but I agree, this is distasteful.

posted by Ariala on January 28, 2005 at 4:51 PM | link to this | reply

this does not resemble anything remotely "funny"

posted by PastorB on January 28, 2005 at 4:49 PM | link to this | reply

PastorB, I'm one of the groupies, remember me? Chris makes fun of
EVERYONE, the good, the bad and the ugly.  It's very distasteful, of course, but that's what makes it funny (and sad).

posted by Ariala on January 28, 2005 at 4:44 PM | link to this | reply

there are people here on blogit who are also disabled, I'm sure
they would find this very offensive as do I. There are also many war hero's who became disabled serving this country. And then there are people like you; just too stupid to know any better.
I'm sure your "groupies" of course will defend you by saying you are just being funny and this is just the way you are. But that does not justify or excuse this.

posted by PastorB on January 28, 2005 at 4:40 PM | link to this | reply

No, this post doesn't even come CLOSE to that.

However, there are other candidates...

and this post serves as a symbol of your own stupidity.

Although I always love your humorous take on things

I have to give this one the thumbs down. I have relatives that make good use of them parking spaces, and I like the idea of some of them still showing a bit of mobilty, which wouldn't be possible without some consdierations. They gave me too much for me to turn on them now.

No worry though, you are still the funniest (Mark comes close though) man on Blogit!

If gimps get special parking spots, why don't retards?

They put braille on drive-up ATM's at banks...so if both blind AND gimpy drivers get special preference, why not 'tards?

None of this would be a problem if someone hadn't stolen the handicapped parking pass I stole last year.

oh...gee...not again. you posted something similar to this before...it made me mad back then and it makes me mad now...I guess because my sister is disabled and I see the struggles she goes through everyday...but it's your way to play devil's advocate, so looking at it from that aspect...this post was really well written. <shrugs>

posted by MiaElla on January 28, 2005 at 3:40 PM | link to this | reply

that post wasn't fair...

often the disabled person does have a driver, but they would still need close access to shops....  and for those disabled people who do drive... many of them have problems walking, not driving... and would collapse to the ground in exhaustion before getting to the shops...  you should be glad you have 2 working legs...

ps.  I aint mad at ya...  just surprised by your remarks.
