Thanks, katray,

I hadn't heard about Baker and Group cooking up a deal like that.  Sounds duplicitous as hell.  I cannot beleive some of these guys.  Appreciate the heads-up.

mike-pilarte,
I read about those alleged thefts.  Of course, Chalabi has denied any type of wrongdoing.  And many think that this accusation against Shaalan is just an attention-getter before Chalabi announces his own bid for Iraqi office.  Who knows.  Chalabi is not a trustworthy person, it seems, but, then, who among them (the politicians) can cast the first stone?

Last year I met a man named Mahmud whom I hold dearly to my heart, a translator that worked for us and go out on patrols with us (in Iraq)   On one of the many conversations we had, chalabi was the main subject, this is way before the scandals started to rise against him.  Mahmud and many others did not trust him, he had told me that Chalabi was wanted in Jordan for stealing somewhere around $20 million dollars or so.

Very interesting Saul. Nothing new here either. Hmm...Did you hear about James Baker's attempt to draw Kuwait into the Carlyle Group, to the tune of several billion. He or associates offered to "help" the government of Kuwait to recoup money owed them by Iraq. Problem was, he had just been appointed envoy by Bush to convince countries to forgive any debts owed by Saddam. So money could be used to rebuild and normalize conditions inside Iraq. Another hmm...Yep, the beat goes on.
