For poetry, I feel the same as you. Fiction, yeah that's pretty much right for me too. But humor, oh humor can be writtin about anything anytime no matter how silly or stupid or forced. That one of things I really like about humor =)

I feel the same way,
except when I'm complaining. I could write complaint letters as a profession I'm sure. Poetry and fiction are definately more random and mind consuming. Take care MiaElla

billy,
haha...maybe I'm just jealous because I can't force myself to write anything. It has to come on the inspiration bus...or it's just crappy Mr. Rogers stuff...haha. I didn't get to finish my blog this morning because my boss walked in...so it's kind of an unfinished blog...I was going to break into a spiel about the two different type of writers...the one that waits for a divine calling, and the other that creates from a word or thought...blah blah blah....hehe...so much for getting caught eh? LOL...now my post seems so one sided. Maybe I'll get a blogging bashing or lashing now from the poetry challenge creators.

Mia..
I have to agree with Billy here... it's good sometimes to challenge yourself to write outside of your normal scope. It developes your vocabulary and perhaps even forces you out of some cliche ruts you might find yourself in. I've enjoyed the poetry challenges for the most part.

Miaella, sometimes we can't wait for inspiration if we really want
to write professionally. Any words you string together is a good exercise...and on good days is when the brilliance happen. I write songs the same way - I forced one out this morning, painful and not great but its there.
