Well said, DamonLeigh.

But it must be stated that no matter what the state of Israel may be guilty of (and, frankly, I agree with many of their aggressive preemptive actions, just not those against civilians and violent incursions into other sovereign nations -- and that obscene wall), Western European Jews should not have to pay the price, no more than should American Jews or a lonely Jew in Pakistan.  And remember, all of the wars they have fought have been defensive actions against highly mobilized and overwhelmingly superior Arab forces.  It is only in their recent history that Israel has become an aggressor nation.  And you are more likely as not correct on your reasoning for Israel getting away with things that should have them up on war crimes charges.  Still, I must say that any Zionist antipathy should be directed toward the Jews and the state of Israel and not against the common Jew of the world (unless, of course, they share some form of responsibility for Israel's actions).

A fair distinction should be made, don't you think?

I Have an...
...alternative take on this.

The Jews had huge, worldwide sympathy after the Holocaust, and rightly so.

But since the creation of the state of Israel, it has become a rogue state. It launches regular attacks into neighbouring countries, it's been a war with most of it's neighbours at some point, it's intransigent when it comes to the Palestinian issue, it regularly conducts assasinations in other territories, it regularly kills civilians and bulldozes the houses of Palestinians, it launched more than one rocket attack on refugee camps, and it's now going against the international court in building that obscene wall.

If it wasn't for the fact that it has nukes, and the unstinting support of the American administration (and not a few of them are Jewish) it would be an international outcast for it's crimes against humanity.

The Jewish people (collectively) have squandered the post-Holocaust sympathy, and they have to learn that it's not OK just to do what the fuck they like. (In a similar way, America has squandered it's post-9/11 sympathy, and has to learn the same lesson).

Saul, I quote Paul Simon again and again.
"Everybody's got to have someone to look down on",
