I appear to be able to keep cats...
and kids alive. At one time I could keep fish alive ala billycargoe's comment. Long time ago I rescued what looked like 1/2" albino fish larvae from a junky freind. One of many lost projects begun on a cocaine high. At least this didn't leave kids at risk as two previous disasters had.
The water had evaporated to two inches at the bottom of this tank. It was green and slimy but somehow these two hung on. Within days of me getting them home they were golden again and their fins began to unfold. They got big and fat fast. One became hand-size and terrorized his slightly smaller mate and started eating his fins.
My then girl freind's dad was a landscaper and had a small pool in his back yard. We moved them in and were gotten by racoons or herons with days.
I'm thinking of bringing a dog into my life. Our life. It almost doesn't matter wether it's a mature dog or a puppy. The thought of each has it's charms.
It will be kizmet for the right dog to placed in my life.

goldfish...their indestructable if...
you change their water every four or five days, even if they live in a mixing bowl without a filter. I don't recommend eating them.
