Eeek!

Don't put Beta's with other fish!  They are too aggressive and territorial.

The resolution sounds like a good one.  It's amazing how many kids actually have high blood pressure now.  It's becoming an epidemic, they say.

some animals and plants are easier to care for than others.
btw, thanks for the great comments and questions (I did try to answer the best I could) in my post.

miaella, two suggestions:

1) you and Bee read Fast Food Nation together and make a pact to boycott greasy fast food

2) raise gold fish that are bigger than the beta, then neither will die...I once had a beta fighting ring going on in my college dorm.

Dave Cryer

Bee is not my child...she's a little girl I used to teach creative writing to and now mentor....that's the problem...I'm supposed to be a positive role model and often feel like I am not. It's bad considering her mom trusts me completely with her. <shrugs>

Chico - (trying to get Groucho to guess the password) "I'll give you three guesses.  It's the name of a fish."

Groucho - "Name of a fish, huh?  Is it Mary?"

Chico - "Ha!  That's-a-no fish."

Groucho - "She's not?  Well she drinks like one."

I didn't know fish could be violent.

Stay strong, you and your daughter, when you start to tackle that resolution. Only one I've ever kept is the one that said: Don't ever make any more resolutions.

Dave.

maybe,

It's definitely not hereditary....my mom's flowers are lush and beautiful...her yard and house look like Eden.

Perhaps taking care of plants is such a simple task, we think we have to do more than what we have too.

Yes, that's it! You, me, roof, and gypsy....we must be geniuses!

roofpig,

aren't you funny....I think my problem is my fish drink too much and my plants smoke too much.

Thats funny Gypsy, I always said my thumb wore a black cloak and
carried a sythe.  I can't keep any plants alive.  Its sad really.  The only reason we have them in our house now is because my husband takes care of them.  I think this may be hereditary, as my mom can't keep plants either.

gypsy,

Haha...I have a bambo plant....it said on the little tag...easy to take care of, hard to kill, barely needs water, food, or sunlight......well it's now it's black. Completely black....what did I do?

And I give my plants plant food, sunlight, and water. I even talk to them!!!

My sister says I don't know how to let a plant be a "plant" or fish be a "fish".

She says I'm too nuturing and I take too good of care of them.

Is that even possible???? LOL!

P.s. glad to hear your cat and kids are thriving....

Well here's a hint - you aren't supposed to plant the fish in dirt or put the plants in an aquarium.

I have a brown thumb so I sympathize. I even have managed to kill a cactus. But my catten is thriving and my kids are still alive so I can't be totally without redemption LOL.
