It's Alive!
One of the reasons I enjoy camping so much is taht I can actually get away from modern machinery and electronics for a few days and actually feel, first hand, the vibrant life that is all around us. It is still here when I am not camping, it's jhust that being away from everyone and in the woods, so to speak, allows me unencumbered lines between nature and myself, or, should I write, between myself and my self?

Great post, West!
It is a hard thing for fundalmentalists to see what you are saying though--we are all living beings, the earth is living, the universe is living--we do not know where this living substance comes from, for all we know, there is no origin and likewise no end. We may just very well be in eternity, just passing through doors from one experience to another. It is interesting to live in these days and hope that humanity will see their unity and embrace their home and keep better house than they have in the past.
Peace,
Freerain

we don't have to define god
but we can find that god (however you envision god) permeates everything.
this is the most important discovery anyone can make.
then one begins to hold everything sacred.
and understand our responsibility in the use of natural resources

There is a new awareness coming.
It is a larger sense of who 'we' are. How to hang on to a sense of the individual while being a part of a larger whole has always been the tough question. But who, before us, could see the Father in the hardware, the Son in the program, and the Holy Spirit in the wireless modem? It's only a comparison, but you can find God in anything if you look.
