Also, that country is pretty far away from us, and they aren't bothering me now, so, as long as I don't have to see terrorist attacks in the middle of my Morning Show, I'm fine.

Yes -- that  dark underlayer.   I've got dead turkeys in my freezer too, and today, a bunch of ants who were minding their own business got washed down the sink!

but a stalemate that has turned out to be a far better scenario than what is currently going on.  Say what he must, Bush's only justifiable reason for invading Iraq has been the elimination of the Hussein regime, which I (and most people had no problems with).  It is the abject distortions of truth that he used to get popular support and the slipshod way the administration has run the occupation that pisses me off.  I must repeat:  if we are the leaders in a globalized world, we need to think long term and internationally.  Specifically, a surgical strike using special forces to excise Hussein once the ground campaign had accomplished its goals, then withdrawal, leaving the Iraqis to fill the leadership vacuum.  Simple, and far less embarassing for the president when WMDs were found not to exist.  Also, far far less body bags coming home to America.

saul,
Support of the UN was what we had in the stalemate (read "oil-for-food" bribes to the French and Germans, read mass graves, read women in bondage and illiteracy, read fascist regime in the 21st century) with Iraq.
