Well, that just goes to show what good word of mouth does us...

I guess Bigmac heard from a lady who went to visit Shiri.  She witnessed it herself and then inquired as to what was wrong.  Then she called us, being that we're racing buddies and seem attached at the hip sometimes.  I guess I'll pass along what you've heard to Bigmac and see what he can find out...

It's hard to know what to make of things...

The last I heard (also by word of mouth) was they were going to be able to take Shiri home as of this Wednesday.  I can't imagine if she was convulsive that could happen.  The paper mentioned permanent brain damage, but no one will know until she wakes up.  A fellow N8 works with, Buzz Hecker (also a racer in the older classes) had a sister who was involved in a car accident and was comatose for two months.  She had all sorts of other complications from the wreck, but is almost walking again without a cane.  Drs. said she would be wheelchair bound the rest of her life, so I guess hope is always well placed.

Yes, I read that, it was very touching...

Thanks for the clarification, I know who you're talking about now.  I heard some news on Shiri I thought you might be interested in, but it's not really an update per say.  Bigmac was talking to someone, we have a couple of info sources going on at the moment, who was describing Shiri's state at the current time, sort of aware, but not.  I guess she responds to commands like open your eye, squeeze my hand, and stuff like that.  Unfortunately, she spend a lot of time in some kind of violent state where she's thrashing around and biting her sheets and clothing to shreds.  She even yanks out her tubes and stuff constantly.  Have you heard anything like this?  I wonder how normal that is??  We also heard some mention of a black spot on scans of her brain, but that nobody knows exactly what functions might be effected until she wakes up.  I cried after hearing this update from Bigmac, I just can't imagine what Hell she might be going through, trapped inside herself like that.

I heard another bit of news, but we didn't get to the track either, so we don't know what happened yet.  Vicki was apparently fired sometime within the past few days, do you know why or what happened??  Anyway, back to the blog...

No, sorry.

I should have clarified, that would be Chris Upson (if you have ever seen the black pug, Splat the race dog,)  you have seen Chris.  I will have to post a photo of Splat.  Chris is N8's "mechanic" and advisor.

I don't know about Chris Howell.  Did you see the article in the Spokesman Review, Region section Sunday August 22, by Melodie Little?  It was quite a writeup and I plan to link to that in a future post (if I can get everything to work, that is).  They interview the Stauffers, the people that are neighbors to N8 & his brother.  We didn't make the big benefit auction, but plan on sending a check to the fund.

Might that "Chris" be Chris Howell???

How is he doing as of late, and did he ride at the track with N8??  I'm worried about the young guy, and his response to his sister's crash.  Granted, I'm sure it's natural for him to be closed off about the whole thing, but It would be a bigger tragedy for him to succumb to his emotions, on top of Shiri's struggle.  Wow, what that family must be going through is too much to imagine.

On another note, good to hear N8 is back on the track.  Maybe he should ride the motorcycle your neice likes the best, it sounds like it's the fastest, in her opinion.  Later...
